Our Lady of Good Counsel
This sophisticated, delicate work has only recently returned to the halls of the museum, after and long and fascinating restoration which revealed the quality of the carving as well as the luxury and variety of the decoration of her clothes. We can see the serpentine silhouette characteristic of the 14th century. The work on the faces of both the Virgin and the Child is of extremely high quality. Their gentle, serene expressions, exceptionally wellpreserved, stay with the visitor long after they first see the piece.
