Paintings - 18th century
The Musée des Augustins, is particularly rich in French art of the 18th century, from the end of the Baroque period to the beginnings of Neoclassicism.
Portraiture is well represented with several masterpieces by Nicolas de Largillière and Élisabeth-Louise Vigée-Lebrun. The various landscape traditions of the 18th century are also represented, with the works by Oudry and Valenciennes. The museum also has a good set of historical paintings from the second half of the 18th century, from Jean-François de Troy to Pierre Peyron.
