From 24th June 1998 to 4th January 1999

As part of a renovation project at the Augustins Museum, a collection of works that are currently in storage are now being restored in preparation for their future display in the new halls of the museum. A great number of the major pieces of the collection could not be shown until now due to lack of space and will henceforth be put on display in several different stages.

The first stage, "Reservé au public" runs from June to December 1998 and presents about forty paintings from the French, Dutch and Italian schools of the 17th and 18th centuries. This exhibition reflects the richness and diversity of the artistic tendencies during these two centuries and the reciprocal influences shaping them.

Five facets of the exhibition reflect the origins of the museum's heritage and showcase: 17th and 18th century painting in Toulouse, religious painting, Dutch schools and Italian landscapes.
